' I want to see the borders of invisible things' ; says Ai FUJIYOSHI,
who was born in 1975, has been creating
the works which visualize her obsession. Two years ago, she made
her debut with a huge work "Swimming
Pool" at Roppongi Weissfeld.
The water that fills the pool was made of beautiful blue resin
and did not allow us to bring up the stairs because of the size
and weight. In order to do the exhibition, we had to remove the
wall and use a crane to
set it up. The quiet and dynamic exhibition was received very
well.
The work mentioned above was nominated for a group exhibition
at the Yokohama Museum and attained a
reputation. In terms of the production, she attempted to set up
a fund to cover the high cost.
Two years later, FUJIYOSHI has found a subsequent motif for "water"
called "roots". Although the existence and importance
of "roots" is quite obvious, they are usually unable
to
be seen. So, if they are under the state of being seen, they do
not work as roots. This paradox mirrors her obsession ' I want
to see the borders of invisible things.'.
Her latest paintings and a large suspended sculpture will be on
view.
A reception for the artist will be held on Fri.4th.July.2008,
19:00-.
Everyone is welcomed.
